Chairman Jhala Nath Khanal has demanded Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai’s resignation, saying that the present government has impeded the ongoing peace and constitution writing processes.Inaugurating a programme of intellectuals affiliated to the UML here in the Capital on Saturday, the former prime minister warned that the country would plunge into serious crisis if peace and constitution writing processes were not completed on time.
He claimed the Maoist party has no power to lead the nation despite its large size and the UML was effortful for forging national consensus.Khanal said, “For UML forging consensus with the Maoists has been like hugging with bear. Neither can we join hands nor do we remain farther from the Maoists.”
Khanal further alleged the Maoist of not showing seriousness to institutionalise the achievements of the movements as the Maoist leaders were changing their positions on peace and revolt frequently.The UML chairman said the Nepali Congress was not adopting the latest political changes and the Madhes-based political parties were confined to regional territory.
